My Memories

After graduation, I attended college for a short time, majoring in Partying. By mutual agreement, college and I parted ways for awhile, and I joined the Army, thinking that to be the best way to avoid running into my very disappointed and then hostile Navy father. Tim Worley and I went through Basic together, although not in same company. I served 3 years in Military Intelligence in Atlanta, where I met and married my first (and current) wife. Three jobs, four and a half years of night school, two kids and five grandkids later, I find myself still in the Atlanta area (you can't get that red clay from between Georgia girls' toes) and contemplating retirement in 4 years from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, where I've been the past 26 years. Have taken up golf lately (a cruel game...should be mandatory for prisoners to play as part of their punishment) and love to travel. My two years at Radford are among my fondest memories: the old outdoor theater, slow dancing to Johnny Mathis at the youth center at Pearl, sneaking into the Elvis Arizona benefit concert with Tim Worley, ti-leaf sliding on Tantalus (sp?), cliff jumping at a lagoon near Wiamea Falls, working at the Del Monte canning plant summers. John Washburn and I volunteering for teacher's lounge cleanup duty 6th period so we could smoke with little chance of discovery. Great days, warm memories, good friends.
